The Panthers Are No PITTance

While doing some reading, I came across an interesting article about Pitt's practice that took place on Saturday August 13th that appeared in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Now being aware that the big game is less than 2 weeks away has me calm, yet, wondering how nasty our Irish will be. The following is the excerpt from the article in discussion:

"Yesterday, things came to a head when the offense squared off against the defense and got in a brouhaha. The two sides had to be separated.

"The hit that set things in motion came when linebacker J.J. Horne laid out running back Rashad Jennings after Jennings caught a short pass over the middle. Offensive tackle Mike McGlynn protested the hit and was shouted down by members of the defense.

"The next play, wide receiver Joe DelSardo caught a pass and was hammered by safety Sam Bryant. DelSardo was on the ground for a few minutes, but he got up and walked off on his own.

"Before DelSardo hit the ground, quarterback Tyler Palko led the charge of offensive players into the pile in protest of the hits in what was supposed to be a two-minute drill. No punches were thrown, but there was plenty of shoving and trash talking. Cooler heads prevailed and practice quickly resumed at an even higher intensity level.

"DelSardo said the play in question was just part of football and that the intensity figures to only to increase once the team is in full pads.

"'That's what [Bryant] is supposed to do, he's just doing his job," DelSardo said. "But we're not going to back down, and Tyler is never going to let any of us out their on our own. He is going to fight for every one of us, and that's why he's our leader and why we have his back as well.'

"'Right now, our opponent is the defense, that's just the way it is, so we're going to do everything we can do to win, and they are going to try and beat us.'"

Now that excerpt has my attention. It should also have yours and I know it has Coach Charlie Weis's attention. These Panthers are expecting to kick our butts. The notion of Pitt roughing up the Irish makes me angry. Tyler Palko no doubt thinks he is a tough guy. It would make me feel so tingly all over to see Palko's butt slammed hard onto Heinz Field. Maybe a little stare down on him, and then perhaps a little acknowledgement of how f...ing proud and pleased the Irish are that his bag of bones is firmly implanted into what should be renamed Palko's Pitt. To be right to the point, it would be delightful to see the Panthers get popped hard by the nastiness of the Irish. I am looking to a display of "Pitt Pounding by the Fighting Irish." I am ready, are you?

Hey there pittaFOOL. You say nice athletes and what's that, ahh, has potential. We will see how much potential there is AFTER ND KNOCKS THE IT OUT OF PITT. Foreseeable future shows a cage locked up on a beaten down panther. Breathing easy.

Off with Palko's head!!

Onward Irish Onward!!!!

Hey there WEEPEEPEE. Charlie Weis might be your answer but I have never seen a new offense fire out of the gate as well as an old defense with senior leadership and a proven star defensive coach.

Your team was horrible at defense last year while PITT's was uncoached. Now you have an offensive guru from the NFL with no head coach experience. Do you really think you will beat up on PITT in any ways in your 1st game under a new coach and playbook while PITT's playbook is almost the same.
