Adjust to Adjustments

It seems that many of the Irish Faithful, while still questioning Tommy Rees as an effective starting quarterback, dismiss Saturday's coming game as a yawner, referring to Purdue as the "Toiletmakers."

For the record, they are full of shit! (As it were).

It should be clear to all that Notre Dame's coming tests will probably be decided in the fourth quarter.....and that includes the one with the Purdue Boilermakers, who really should not be much of a challenge.

The Fighting Irish, for whatever reason, just don't build bigtime leads and go into the 4th quarter, indeed, the last minutes, with the notion that this game is in the bag.  Adjustments, adjustments.

Yes, they are a very good 2-2 team.  But, 2-2 nevertheless.

And, yes, there is something wrong with Tommy Rees and the way he handles his quarterbacking duties.
He has no speed, no elusiveness, doesn't scan the field before passing, and frankly, isn't very strong.
But, by God, he is 6-1 as a starter!  Ya gotta go with him.

We do wish that Kelly would have found a way to get the ball to Michael Floyd against Pitt.  He never made that adjustment.  Don't know why.  It raises the same question why Diaco was never able to adjust to and stop Denard Robinson from beating ND again. Don't know why.  We have to worry about Air Force and Navy.

Adjusting to their adjustments.

The Irish defense, nonetheless,  is bordering on superb, and the line play of Lynch and Tuitt is only going to get better.  It is reallly tough to run against ND and the pass rush is getting better.  Pass defense is still the proverbial "work in progress."

Adjustments, adjustments---so far lacking in some elements of the game on both sides of the ball.
Correct this omission and the Irish are on their way to a BCS bowl.

E-Mail of the Week, From Jim/Missouri:
"I believe that the Irish should be in a conference---and someday they may be forced into one.  The right conference IMO is the Big 12, with the following teams:  Bring back Texas A&M; Texas, Baylor, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, dear Missouri, BYU, and yes, Notre Dame. What a strong league in all sports, especially football. Step Aside SEC."

Purdue will be looking to knock off the Irish, a much better team, but the Boilermakers will turn some new pages from their offense and defense playbooks.  They will be tenacious under the lights.

Adjust to their adjustments, coach Kelly.
