Irish in Stretch Run

Notre Dame rounded the schedule corner with a big win over Maryland, and now head into the stretch run with must-wins over nemesis Boston College and yes---Stanford, out in Palo Alto, no less.  Thus a big bowl in the offing.  The Irish running game is in high gear and much-maligned QB Tommy Rees is doing a pretty good job, in our estimation, throwing the ball.  The defense could and should be better, especially against The Cardinal, if ND is going to make it to the promise land---probably not a BCS bowl, but a good one, and a 10-3 final record.  We all wait and wonder which way the wind wanders!

E-Mail from Jack/Pennsylvania:  It appears or at least is rumored that Gunner Keil is leaning to ND.  If that happens, what does it mean?
The Irish Brogue:  It means that Rees fights for the starting QB slot, and Hendrix and Golston think about greener pastures for their abilities.  Keil is the real deal.
E-mail from Hank/Missouri:  How does ND beat a very potent Stanford team with the nation's best quarterback and solid O and D?
The Irish Brogue:  Their defense wasn't very solid against Oregon. The Irish need to have an up-temporunning attack and a passing game that is without turnovers. If the defense can raise hell at Mr. Luck,ND will win this game.
E-Mail from Miss Irish/Indiana:  Should Mike Floyd be a first team All-American?
The Irish Brogue: He certainly should get top consideration.  He is a great "good-hands-man." who runs excellent routes and blocks very well. A real asset to any team, including an NFL one.  We are of the mind that Tyler Eifert should be a very strong candidate for tight-end AA honors.
We close today with a comment about the BC game this weekend.  Their offense is no match for the Irish defense and their defense, with the exception of Luke Kuechley, can't stand up to the Irish offense.  Or, so it all seems. However, the lads from Chestnut Hill have shown some real sparks from time to time this season, and a victory over the hated South Benders would virtually erase all their losses. But, what the hell, that ain't going to happen. The Irish in a rout.
